Dr. Matthew Herzig

Dr. Matthew Herzig

Matthew graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 1983. After working in private practice in Hamilton for a short while, he moved to Mt Isa for 2 years. In Mt Isa, Matthew practiced dentistry in the Mt Isa Hospital dental clinic. His role as hospital dentist included travelling to outback communities via the Flying Doctor Service on a monthly basis.

In 1986, Matthew bought into this private practice in Carina. Matthew has great passion for all aspects of dentistry. His talkative and gentle approach to dentistry eases the most apprehensive patient and he regularly attends continuing educations courses. Away from Dentistry, Matthew is a keen sailor and fisherman; he indulges in most other water sports, mountain biking and is an infrequent skier. He has 2 children, Sam and Beth, who are both at university.

Dr. Ross Stewart

Dr. Ross Stewart

Ross Stewart has been in private dental practice for 35 years; 12 years at Mount Isa, 21 years at Tingalpa and with Matthew since August 2012. Ross has had extensive experience in most aspects of dentistry. He is a member of the Australian Dental Association and several other dental societies and professional development groups.

In his spare time, Ross enjoys gardening, photography and playing with his grandsons. He tries to play beach volleyball and competes in canoeing events occasionally.

Dr Lauren Taljaard

Dr. Lauren Taljaard

Lauren graduated from University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Dental Science (Hons). Having been part of our team for the past 5 years, Lauren has a passion for providing gentle care to our patients. Lauren likes to make sure everyone feels as comfortable as possible when coming to the dentist. She enjoys working with patients of all ages and particularly enjoys working with children and making sure their first visits to the dentist are as enjoyable as possible.

Her experiences from working both in a government and private clinics have highlighted to her the importance of incorporating the philosophy of prevention is better than a cure, which she likes to utilize when treating her patients. Lauren enjoys travelling, keeping fit and spends her spare time playing with her puppy Sammy, a Shitzu-Toy Poodle cross.
